After the applicants meet the specified conditions, it can keep the whole industrial buildings, commercial buildings may become activated, can be used for offices, restaurants, services and hotel. The advantage of this scheme is achieving the concept of environmentally friendly but also retains the district cityscape. ‘Revitalising Industrial Buildings’ can increase more commercial land, so that may release small business owner suffer from rent, also to make them have more choice from the traditional area such as from Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok to move to new business area to attack new customers. Take Kwun Tong as an example, small and medium enterprises engaged in retail and catering, future customers will come from redevelopment of Yue Man Square and the nearby cruise terminal, described as beautiful prospects.
Planning Department suggest a Planning and Design Study on the Redevelopment of Queensway Plaza, Admiralty. The study is about redevelopment Queensway Plaza to a 50-storey commercial building for use as office and hotel and catering facilities and provides 80,000 square meters of office area. Planning Department also said the height of building will not exceed 203 meters to protect the Tsim Sha Tsui to see the Victoria Peak and have an improvement plan of green area. If adopt this study, it must increase more employment opportunities and stimulate economy development.
